Brad Cockman spent about an hour and a half at the Hot August Nights Poker Run lunch stop at Minden Town Park this afternoon and turned in some great work. Here’s a sampling of his photos from the event. He posted many more at his site, www.brad21photo,com.

Camping in and around Carson Valley

I love camping in the Sierra’s and around the Carson Valley

The Carson Valley Times

Editor’s note: J. Brandon, who is helping to coordinate the upcoming Carson Valley/Lake Tahoe Adventure Motorcycle Ride & Rendezvous, recently put together this piece on some of the various camping spots available in the area. It’s a great read!

Want to camp? Carson Valley and the surrounding area offer lots of choices. Some are close enough to be good choices for camping during the event. Others would be a great way to extend your stay and get out into the backcountry for a little motorcycle adventure.

 RV Camping

Northern Nevada Favorites

January Favorites

Welcome to Northern Nevada Favorites January Issue.

January in Northern Nevada most are talking about the snow and their latest ski trip. Not being a skier myself it would be difficult for me to tell you what the best in skiing has to offer you this winter in Northern Nevada. I can tell you I have heard great things about the conditions at Mt. Rose and Heavenly Ski Resorts this winter from friends. So instead of Skiing let me start the year off with my January most do list in Nevada.

§ Breakfast at the Cowboy Café in Minden Nevada. A bit of an interesting place in Northern Nevada this family style restaurant is only open for breakfast and lunch. The food is fantastic, the portions plenty and the service is friendly. You might have a little wait at times but well worth it if you are in town.
§ Ice Skating in Carson City. Carson City each year puts up an ice skating rink in downtown Carson City. Across the street from the Nugget Casino it has become a great location for families and friends to get together and enjoy the holiday season.
§ UNR Basketball and Big Horn Basketball. UNR has entered league play and a home game a Lawlor event center is a just what the average sports fan needs in the cold of winter. Reno also offers up a D-League experience with the Reno Bighorns, that is a can’t miss event when in town. These players are literally one game away from playing prime time in the NBA.
§ Are you looking for the best clubs and concerts in town while you visit? Check out the Underground or the Knitting Factory for some of the hottest shows in town for January.

Hope you enjoy some of Northern Nevada’s Favorites. Send me your favorites and I will add them to the next issue.
